<<Jax and Abigail continue here from Ronin - Season 2 Episode 2 - Land Locked and Down pg. 6 >>

The night that had fallen was still strong, but both travelers knew that dawn was approaching and with it a new day.

The night air was cool on them, but not cold.  The air was fresh and clear.  This part of Persephone, not far for Evan's Down Docks was like a world unto itself.

The steeples of the Temples were all aligned in neat rows and squares.  It was hard to believer that under them, under the people who prayed and worshiped  gods above were those who prayed and worshiped Lady Luck in all her shapes in sizes and forms.

The Casino called the Downs was their destination.  It would also be hard for someone looking in to realize that these two were separate parts of separate ploys to rob it.

Now they just wanted to get certain items and leave.

The Black awaited.

For now though, they had to be Dirtside.

Abigail Archer

Abigail approached Jax slowly.  She breathed slowly trying to get the courage to push her self to reach him. It took an eternity it seemed, but really, so did time without him.  Abigail finally stopped standing next to Jax, turning toward him,
"Shall we do this?"

She nodded forward knowing fully well she was avoiding what they were about to talk about. But was anymore time really going to make a difference of what they were going to say?

Abigail smirked,

"Always." She opened her jacket slightly to show the two pistols attached to her hip.

"This is all very familiar, you and I running two separate jobs on the same casino.  Not knowing that either of us were in the vicinity." She smiled slightly.  It as one of the better memories they had.  Abigail attempted to stay away from the fact that their last encounter wasn't entirely pleasant.

They continued to walk toward the casino at a steady pace.

Jax

The evening was cool with a slight breeze as the two would be thieves strolled along. Jax laughed at Abigail

Jax

Jax entertained the idea of diamonds and Abigail for a second or two.

It was at that very moment, when the 'Verse only held the two of them that they became aware of a third.

A dark figure off to the left of the walkway, in the shadow of the buildings they were near.  The figure of a man could barely be seen.  He was in a hunched position, like he was trying to hide form someone and not doing a very good job.

There was the glint of light coming from something in one of his hands.

Abigail Archer

Abigail looked down at her hands for a moment as Jax took them.  He always made her feel so shy.  All that confidence she usually radiated just seemed to fade away out of no where. Her heart pounded dreading what he was going to say, her mind automatically jumped to the worst possible conclusion, he hated her and wanted to kick her off the boat,

The man came out, into the light.  His voice familiar to both Abigail and Jax.  As he moved closed it could be seen that the item in his hand was his CorPAD

"I'm unarmed."

The voice was steady even though the man moved slowly and in obvious fear.  Bit not necessarily from Abigail or Jax

His face came into the light and recognition came into his eyes.

For Jax, it was the man who had hired him as a Blackjack dealer.  For Abigail, it was the man who had passed the information about the Casino to Lin.

"Aaron?  Thank Buddha it's you.  Miss Archer, please tell your captain that I require a ride as soon as he can arrange it.  I can pay."

A beat and he continued

"Nikola has her goons all over the Casino.  Word was leaked that I passed on information and now, I'm dead if I stay here."

His hands were held in front of him, almost in the universal
'hands-up' gesture.

As Jax held her the thought entered his mind that this was just about the time he usually woke up from the dream, but as their lips met he didn

Abigail arched a brow momentarily but soon put her guns away realizing she already knew the man.  And apparently Jax did as well.  Lowering her weapons Abigail put her weapons away.  Malcolm apparently didn't know the full extent of the changes made to Ronin recently.  However Jax had responded before she could.

He had left one world and stepped into another.  Janus Malcom hoped he hadn't stepped from the proverbial frying pan into the fire, but thought he had anyway.

Things never were what they seemed.

Abigail nodded and smiled back,
"Doesn't sound like a problem to me." She nodded toward the door "Let's do this then shall we."

Janus nodded once from the shadows.

"How do I make aquaintence with your ship?  Will you call ahead or do I show up, unannounced and hope for the best?"

He handed Abigail a data chip that had the combination and location of his safe.  He did so only because she was closer to him than Jax was.

"Aaron, this chip has the information you'll need once you gat back in.  I'd suggest you use the employee entrence like you did this morning.  The main doorway is closed off.  You'll have to show your IDent to get past Nikola's people.  I trust you know where my office is ... was.  Not mine anymore I'd wager."

Abigail looked at Jax, "Did we bring comm units?" She hadn't because she figured they wouldn't be necessary but she wasn't certain if he had.
"If not  the XO of the ship is there, you tell her we sent you she'll probably let you in....She's very perceptive and generally knows a liar when she see's one. Her name's Victoria." She grinned thinking about Victoria, the girl would probably make Janus a little uneasy.

Abigail took the data chip and handed it off to Jax. He knew how to get around so it'd be best if he had the info.

Abigail sighed as they walked toward the employee entrance.  She nodded toward the door upon arrival and smiled.  "After you"

Her heart was beating rapidly as she waited for the door to open.  She hoped this job would go better than the last time they had worked together.
