Howdy howdy!

Just curious what kind of activities everyone's into here! Personally I'm into writing (who knew!?), cooking, tabletop/paper and dice gaming, hiking, photography, ASMR, meditation, and building and painting Gundam models. I have a collection of Transformers, but I've been drifting away from that as I focus on other hobbies and pursuits. I also like to build my own PCs and would like trying my hand at building custom gaming rigs in the future. Speaking of future activity, I need to haul my pigu back into the gym sometime soon and find a passion for a physical activity beyond walking in the woods.

So what about you? What are you into?
I know that I hung on a windy tree nine long nights, wounded with a spear, dedicated to Odin, myself to myself, on that tree of which no man knows from where its roots run.

Wow, I almost feel weird replying cuz no one else has but I'm new so why not...

I love to write in my free time, and read.  I'm a huge comic book/gamer nerd (used to own a comic book game store once upon a time), love anything related to the beach, am a cake decorator and love to cook. Oh, and I kind of like this show called Firefly that was on TV once upon a time...it was kind of nifty.

What was your experience running a comic/game shop like? It's been a low key day dream of mine, but I don't see it ever happening. Maybe when I'm in a more populated area it'll be different. We'll see.

What got you into cake decorating? Your favorite aspect of it? Do you like baking in general or more of the creative and artistic aspect of it all?

When it comes to owning/running a comic store let me first tell you it's a trap.  It's a lot of long hours and a lot of hard work for very little actual monetary profit.  I did get to hear a lot about cool decks people built for magic and their awesome 23rd level Ranger/druid who really did blah blah blah... On the plus side I went to a lot of conventions and met a lot of cool people in the gaming industry, like actual writers and artists (Margaret Weis is an absolute peach, Brom was cool as hell).

I started cake decorating because I worked in a courtesy booth at a grocery store.  Guy comes in really late one night needs us to write Happy Anniversary Barbara on a cake.  says his wife is gonna divorce him if she thinks he forgot their anniversary.  he buys flowers, wine and I write on the cake.  It's not pretty but it's passable.  Next day I ask the bakery manager to teach me so if it happens again I can do a good job.  She starts teaching me on my lunch hour.  I practice at home.  Lady quits in the bakery and she asks me to pick up hours in the bakery helping out...been doing it ever since.  I have always cooked and baked anyway, ever since I could stand in a high chair and "help" my grandma so truthfully feeding people in general makes me happy.  Now I can make it look pretty when I do it.  I would post food porn but I'm afraid people might shoot me.
