Izak 'Zak' Archer
Age: 27
Gender: Male

Primary Occupation: Alliance Navy Officer (Ret.)

Secondary Occupation: Freelancer/Smuggler
Requested Ship: The Revenge

Appearance:
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 190 Pounds
Tall and thin with close-cropped dark brown hair and bright green eyes. His complexion is a little paler than most people. His height is only emphasized by his straight posture from his academy days and time in the Alliance Navy. He wears a serious expression, but is surprisingly laid back considering his training and experience.
Face claim: James Phelps

Initial Personality:
Honest to a fault, but terribly formal due to his upbringing on Londinium, Izak can be stern, serious, and intimidating, especially when it comes to getting his job done. Not only does this make him hard to read, but it's a deterrent to many forms of social interaction.

Underlying Personality:
Once most people get to know him though, they find Izak is a generally good person. He's polite, always looking for a chance to crack a joke, and tends to be accepting of almost any person and their views. This laid back behavior can surprise most people when they first encounter it.

Known History:
Izak was born in New Cardiff on Londinium, the middle child and only son of William and Lara Archer. He has two sisters, Anna and Elise. His father worked for the Alliance government, but was never able to serve in the Navy himself, and instead looked to his son to secure the family's legacy in a more permanent by doing so. They could not afford much for Izak in the realm of education, but he worked hard and eventually entered the Alliance officer academy, and specialized in Naval Artillery. His term as an officer ended one year after the Miranda Broadcast, and he moved on to mercenary work, serving on at least one privateering  or smuggling vessel as a gunner.

Other History:
Izak is the middle child and only son in a family of three children. His parents, William and Lara Archer, both saw potential in him, and knew that he'd do well in life, even from a young age.  However, his father had specific ideas as to where to 'direct' his son's potential. As a staunch conservative Alliance official, he felt very uncomfortable with the idea that his oldest and youngest children, Anna and Elise, could serve in the military. As such, Izak was given several years' worth of 'nudging' in that direction.

To say he resented his father for it was an understatement – he hated him for it. As a matter of fact, his entire family did. It was a constant point of conflict in his household. Nevertheless, Izak sacrificed a lot of what most people would consider the average life of a Londinium teenager in preparation to attend the Alliance Military Academy. It was months of hard work on end, but it kept him busy, gave him a chance to earn a lot, and kept his father off his back. Nevertheless, it was a somewhat dull time in his life. Going to the Academy on the other hand was exciting.

At the Academy, Izak found himself on the Officer track in no time at all, and specialized in Naval Artillery – which he learned was a sophisticated way of saying he was a gunner. He was much more passionate about flying, but barely passed those classes. He enjoyed the lifestyle, and adapted quite well. He also attended his fair share of parties, galas, and rubbed shoulders with the sons and daughters of some of the Alliances wealthiest citizens, it was quite the lifestyle. Being assigned to one of the alliances two carriers however, changed all that. The monotony of life in the field took hold on him, and despite moving up the ranks, he found it dull and even more regimented than life at the Academy. The most excitement he had was when a pair of Alliance personnel attempted to steal several thousand rounds of ammunition from a requisition he filed. It was of no surprise to the rest of his family when a few short months after the Miranda broadcast he did not renew his contract and walked away. His father on the other hand, stopped speaking to him almost entirely.

Izak moved from Londinium, and took up smuggling and privateering work as a means of getting by. He had gone out on only a couple of jobs when he was approached by the same two women who tried to steal from him while he was in the service. They had an offer that certainly proved interesting...

Skills and Strengths:
Close Quarters Combat: Izak has learned a thing or two about how to deal with a person in tight quarters thanks to his time in the Alliance and his time as a smuggler. He also prefers a shotgun because it is good for dealing with enemies who get too close for his comfort, and it tends to make a very loud point.
Naval Artillery: Hitting a target in space isn't easy; it requires a level of precision that would surprise even some of the most educated engineers. But Izak is one of the most qualified individuals to do it.
Mechanic: While by no means is he an expert, Izak found out very early in his Navy career that if you need to know how to maintain a ship's weaponry, you should know how to maintain the ship itself.

Weaknesses:
Long Range Combat: Another reason why he sticks to shotguns. Point in the right direction and pull the trigger. He doesn't have the training to use longer range weapons such as rifles.
Medical: While he can fix the guts of a starship, Izak only has the bare minimum of medical knowledge he gained during his education. As such, while he could help with burns and simple cuts and bruises, don't bother asking him to set broken bones or perform surgery...its well beyond his knowledge base
Core Upbringing: Don't ask him to be something he's not – anyone would know he's ex-Alliance from a mile away.
