Shanghai Crew / Gemma Pierce
July 18, 2018, 07:29:11 AM
Gemma Pierce

Age:  28
Gender:  Female

Primary Occupation:  Pilot
Secondary Occupation (optional):  Gunhand
Equipment:  Gemma doesn't carry much, she has a duffel bag of clothing, a few small hand guns, a PDA, and a large knife.

Appearance:  Gemma has long dark brown wavy hair, and hazel eyes. She's about 5'7" and usually stands with a hand or two on her hips. As if to say , I am incredibly official. Listen to me.  She has a bright wide smile, that can quickly change into a stare that could bore holes through someone's skull.
Faceclaim:  Emilia Clarke

Initial Personality:  Most find Gemma a little...abrupt, and perhaps a little sassy upon meeting her for the first time. She's not afraid to push boundaries. She also knows what she wants, and how to go for it.  She can usually be found in a somewhat jovial mood, however her temper is quick to rise dependent on her mood and the situation.
Underlying Personality:  With most people she knows, Gem is quite sweet, while retaining her sassiness. She's extremely loyal to the people she cares about, sometimes to a fault. It's evident that she can go from 0 to 100 within a matter of seconds, her hand perhaps always a little too close to that dagger on her belt.  Gemma will do what she can for her friends and family, pulling as many strings necessary, if she has any in that instance. She wears her heart on her sleeve and loves selectively, but when she does , she loves them fiercely.

Known History:  Gemma was born on Persephone to Jimmy and Makenzie Pierce. Her father was a delivery pilot and her mother was a waitress at a local establishment. Her parents worked hard to ensure she got the education she needed, to move beyond their class. She worked when she had time for her father's company as a pilot as well, attempting to save money for school. This got her eventually to medical school on Osiris where she started to study to become a medical professional. When the war started she found her self more sympathetic to the Independent's cause, eventually finding her self in an underground group of sympathizers. They did what they could to help the independents, protests, petitions, etc. However Gemma wanted to do more, so she started to use her piloting skills.  The group began to smuggle medical supplies to various independent groups across the 'verse.  Gemma would acquire medical supplies from her school and would make runs with the newly formed smuggling group. She eventually dropped out of school to make it a full time gig.
Other History:  Smuggling became Gemma's full time job and life style.  She sent updates when she could to her parents but the location of her and her crew needed to remain secret, especially during the war.  Unfortunately, while their efforts were valiant, the Alliance eventually won.  After the war, there wasn't much need to help the Independents, as they were all dead, or underground.  She made her way back to Persephone and took over her father's job as he retired and smuggled goods to and from the planet on the side.

Skills and Strengths:  Pilot:  Gemma is an expert pilot, can fly pretty much anything that has a set of wings on it.
Medical: Some medical training but not enough to keep someone alive, only one year of medical school training.
Gun Skills and Combat Training:  No formal training but Gemma got into enough skirmishes during the war. She had to learn to defend her self and her cargo
Weaknesses:  Mechanical skills: Don't count on her to fix your bird, if it comes down to Gemma fixing the thing or letting if fall out of the sky, the latter might save your life...or be less painful in the end.

Cooking: She cannot, and will not cook. She might try to boil water....but chances are it'll just sit there, staying cold.

Comp tech: Gemma's ability to use any kind of technology pretty much went out the window the day she was born. It might be genetic, her parents are also pretty terrible with technology, usually it breaks as soon as she touches it.

Not in Play / Isa Serafina Zavala Romero Mendoza
July 15, 2018, 02:44:59 PM
Isa Serafina Zavala Romero Mendoza
Player: Celena Hain

Age:  28
Gender:  Female

Primary Occupation:  Pilot
Secondary Occupation (optional):  Gunhand/Smuggler

Appearance:  Isa is 5'8" with a slender build, dark brown eyes, and black wavy hair, which usually rests on her shoulders.  You'll rarely find her slouching due to her previous military training, as much as she abhors it now. Some smile lines can be seen on her face, however most would find her to be relatively serious.
Faceclaim:  Zoe Saldana

Initial Personality:  When first meeting Isa, most will find her quite sassy and perhaps a little sultry. She has a quick sense of humor and smile that falls under the category of, "yes I find you attractive, but I might also be trying to kill you."  The woman is deadly and has the temper of an explosive hand grenade. One can never really tell if she's trying to seduce you, or is plotting to kill you, steal your belongings and bury you in a shallow grave.

On the other hand, when it comes to business deals and high stress situations, most will find Isa akin to that of an Alliance captain. Partially because she was one in a previous life, but also because her former military training has a tendency to kick in, and never went away.
Underlying Personality:  Isa is fairly quick witted and tends to tease the ones she closest to the most.  She's passionate and aggressively loyal, to a fault. Though she will also burn you, your things, and your loved ones to the ground, if you ever cross her, and if she ever finds out.  Disloyalty isn't something Isa takes lightly, even if it's just skimming some off the top, a lie is a lie.  Her trust is hard to earn and is usually reserved for those that she has served with for an extended period of time.

Known History:  Born on Osiris to Alcides Romero and Rosália Zavala.  Her father was a judge on Osiris and well known for convicting multiple criminals, browncoats, and other nefarious individuals, with harsher punishment than necessary. Her mother stayed home and took care of her, ensuring Isa grew up to be a lady. However, at the age of 8 Alcides was murdered by a criminal organization, for sentencing a top hitter to the chair.  Rosália remarried a year latter, because how else was a lady to take care of her only daughter, to Marco Mendoza, a Major in the Alliance.  She loved Marco, and loved the military.  They moved frequently, however she was always treated like a princess.

Eventually Isa enlisted at 18 and moved her way up through the ranks.  Marco eventually died during a raid on one of the border planets, however an autopsy was never done and his body was never found. Just a few pieces of him.  The soldiers said it was reavers, but that's not possible right? Reavers are just a story to scare children. Her mother, unable to remarry, with no real skill set depended on Isa for money. Isa began smuggling goods and selling them throughout the fleet, it started small with things like cigarettes, booze, food, clothing, etc.  Eventually she began to smuggle externally to make more money to send home. Isa began to sell weapons, ammo, explosives, and other related items off on the border planets, setting up a small enterprise in the fleet.  No one really thought of it until she became Captain of her own command and things became a little more noticeable. Eventually Isa was caught and was dishonorably discharged, with no jail time. If she had gone to jail, word would've gotten out that more than a few high ranking officials took part, and that wouldn't look very good for the Alliance.
Other History:  After being discharged, Isa went home and lived with her mother until she passed away.  Eventually she found her way to Persephone for a more affordable way of life, piloting small carriers to and from the station, as a glorified delivery person. She swore off smuggling again until the Miranda broadcast came out.  It wasn't until then that she realized Marco really had been devoured by Reavers, and god knows what else.  It was in that moment that she realized what her whole life had stood for. What she had defended, what made her who she was, and that needed to change.

Soon after a former crew mate, friend and subordinate of Isa's contacted her. Melody had Isa's old boat....and it was ripe for the picking.

Skills and Strengths:  Flying, commanding, generally telling people what to do. Hand to hand combat, stealing things, shooting, being overly sassy and confident.
Weaknesses:  Do not ask her
to provide medical care. You will die. Probably best she steers clear of the engine room as well, unless you'd like to turn the whole ship into a piece of space junk.

Asides / Just a quick drink...
June 17, 2018, 06:04:37 PM
Helena had given Jerilyn the grand tour and showed the new comer to her room.  At this point she had found a bottle of whiskey in the galley and made her way to Vega's room to finally get a moment with him.  She wanted to catch up, see how he was doing, it had been a life time since they had been on the same boat together.  They had always worked well together but it was something more than that,  Helena felt a different connection with him. Though it wasn't something she was going to admit, at least not sober.

She came upon Vega's door and knocked on the doorway and raised the bottle and two glasses, "Ready for that drink? I never got a chance to have one at the bar with the commotion, seemed like you could use one as well." She gave him a quick smile, her hair falling slightly into her face.

In Play / Jesse "Rogue" Walker
June 13, 2018, 05:41:55 PM
Jesse Walker
Player: Celena Hain

Age:  25
Gender:  Female

Primary Occupation:  Comptech
Secondary Occupation (optional):  Gunhand

Appearance:  5'7", dark brown hair, brown eyes. Jesse looks petite but she packs a decent punch. She wears dark skinny jeans and whatever shirt he has on hand.  She usually has a small pouch (not a fanny pack) attached to her hip carrying her PDA and other tools she usually needs to break into your everyday local network or alliance facility.
Faceclaim:  Chloe Bennet

Initial Personality:  Jesse is friendly but a bit of smartass.  She's quick to respond with the first thing that comes to her mind, and was never great at filtering.  She can be charming and a little bit of a flirt, depending on how she's feeling that day.  She's quick to try and talk herself out of trouble, though her efforts are rarely successful, as it's hard to tell when she's being serious.
Underlying Personality:  Jesse is willing to be friends with just about anyone, provided they're not trying to kill her. She doesn't trust easily persay but she's not one to quickly pass judgement. It's an unspoken rule of her's, she wouldn't want anybody to judge her upon appearance or first meet so she gives people time to prove themselves. Unless it is glaringly obvious they are out to get her, she's willing to give anyone a shot.  She is known to be a bit of a flirt, not so much looking of looking for mr. right, but she loves the thrill off the chase. A pretty face has certainly gotten her into trouble more than a few times.  Speaking of trouble, it's her second greatest love, after technology.

Known History:  Jesse grew up on Ariel.  Her Aunt and Uncle took care of her after her parents died in the Battle of Serenity. Jesse wasn't a brown coat by choice, she found the whole argument a little boring but then again she didn't understand why anyone would want to leave the core. Not till her parents died anyway, and until she became much older. Her father was a doctor and her mother a teacher.  They paid their taxes, they were good citizens, but they didn't agree with the way the boarder planets were treated.  Her Aunt and Uncle felt the same way.

While in school Jesse found she was more adept in technology than her other courses, primarily history, english, art, really anything that wasn't related to computers. Jesse got a job to work on the weekends and after school as a computer technician at a local company.  Technology became her primary focus and she began to skip her other classes.
Jesse dropped out of school and started working full time at the shop.  Her life was fine, until she met a very attractive young man, and fell into a group of hackers. Jesse's skill set and love of the boy and technology began to grow, until he was arrested and the group disbanded.

This life style continued, as did her skill set.  Eventually Jesse was arrested for hacking into an alliance system, trying to erase a parking ticket of all things, and spent two years in prison, making friends in some very seedy groups.  Since then Jesse has made a name for her self in the hackers community, nowadays she goes by Rogue (R06U3).  The authorities have kept tabs on her but she has yet to be caught for anything concrete, outside of that one measly parking ticket. Now she's just looking for a steady job and a way to survive.
Other History:  After her first love went to prison, Jesse put together her own group and found away to break him out by submitting 'release papers' to the Alliance facility he was being held.  Of course as soon as he was released she found out he had been cheating on her with every other girl in the group.  The group disbanded and Jesse's parents passed away during the war.  It was at this point that her targets began to change. Her Aunt and Uncle cheering her on,  Jesse (Rogue), began to target Alliance facilities, rerouting survival items like food and medicine from the Core planets to others in need. She became an activist and started to attack local Ariel facilities, shutting down government agencies, until they caught on to her.  It was at that point that Jesse chose to leave Ariel and travel the 'Verse, laying low for the time being, until the Alliance loses her scent.  Most don't know her by Rogue, and she tends to only relay her 'real' resume to those she truly trusts.

Skills and Strengths:  She's a decent shot and can hold her own in a fight, she learned from a few of her old prison buddies and associates after she was released. Hacking is her biggest strength, flirting and charm are second.
Weaknesses:  Attractive men, they usually get her into trouble, and people in need are her greatest weakness.  Jesse has a bleeding heart, and will do what she can with what skills she has. Most of all though, you do not want her piloting you anywhere, she will fly you into the ground, and will probably kill you or in the best case scenario, you'll lose a limb...or four.

In Play / Helena Cain
October 07, 2017, 07:37:49 PM
Helena Cain
Player: Helena Cain

Age:  32
Gender:  Female

Primary Occupation:  Gunhand
Secondary Occupation:  General Hand

Appearance:  Helena is about 5'7" with wavy brown hair with a soft complexion. Time has been kind to her, but it's evident she's lived.  Lines have slowly begun to form where she may have smiled, or more likely grimaced.  Worry may have been another emotion worn in a different life, when there was anything worth worrying about. She usually stands favoring her right side, her hip jutting out and her thumb looped into the belt of her jeans. Her weapons are usually out in the open, on a holster, with one combat knife strapped to her ankle.
Face Claim:  Rachel McAdams

Initial Personality:  Helena is relatively friendly when you first meet her. Sarcasm is her native tongue unfortunately making it difficult to determine her sincerity. She can be arrogant and is aware of her attractiveness, something she uses to her advantage.  She loves to flirt, and has a tendency to lead people on, never out of malice.
Helena can also at times take it to far in her ribbing and can forget that not everyone was born with the thickest of skins.

Underlying Personality:  Helena's sarcasm and flirtatious nature is a smoke screen for her deep fear and insecurities.  She is deeply afraid of people, and connections.  Being dis-liked is something she cannot abide by, and will do everything in her power to ensure she is liked.  Whether that is consciously or subconsciously.  Helena likely isn't aware of this fault but it certainly drives her relationships and how she interacts with people.

Underneath the fear is ambition, and competitiveness. She will not lose, and refuses to fail no matter the cost. The stubbornness can be an asset - but every once in a while has been a detriment to a mission or to her personal life.

She secretly craves the love of that one person that will endure her regardless of what she does or how she acts.  Making her a deep closeted romantic.  Swooning is an unfortunate side-effect of this disorder.

Helena is fiercely loyal, and those she does choose to trust and show her true self to - she will defend them and love them until her dying breath.

Known History:  Family:
Jenna Murdoff - Deceased - Cause: Killed during pursuit.
Phillip Murdoff - Deceased - Cause: Found dead in cell, cause unknown. Previous inmate at Alliance Penitentiary, found with multiple stab wounds and several broken ribs.
Hera Murdoff - Unknown - Current status or location unknown. Multiple warrants out for the arrest of Hera Murdoff - most notably for the murder of Alliance Commander Jonathan Cameron Riggs.
William Cain - Alive - Divorced - former husband, known associate, multiple arrest warrants for battery, assault, and robbery.

Born: Persephone
Location: Unknown
Record:
Previously arrested for assault, battery, robbery, grand theft auto, assaulting an officer
Warrants: None

Other History:  Helena was born into a family of petty crime.  She and her sister and her twin sister Hera were both raised for the first few years of their lives on Persephone.  They were always competitive, but loved each other nonetheless. Their parents Jenna and and Phillip were never ones that could leave the life of crime behind, though they swore it when Jenna became pregnant.

Jenna did her best to provide an education to her children, or what she knew herself anyway.  Basic math, reading, history, and anything else they might need to survive. Phillip provided "extra curricular" activities, Helena and Hera both learned to shoot at 13 and became pretty good with a gun by 16. He taught them how to fight, how to steal, and how to boost the occasional vehicle. Most importantly, he taught them how to avoid the authorities.

When Helena and Hera turned 17, Jenna and Phillip got back in contact with an old friend who was in need of a crew. They were notorious in the business for sticky fingers and sharp shooting. The crime they took part in was always relatively small time, things like salvage of derelict ships and smuggling. It made sense and they were itching to get back into the game. So they agreed, and brought their girls with them.

This is where Helena met William Cain, Billy.  She was 16, and had never been in love. He was 17, a mechanic, ripped to the core, and covered in grease. He usually appear sweaty which just enhanced the muscles he usually had showing at one time or another. Needless to say he was the definition of a nightmare for any father of two teenage girls.

Hera did her best to gain his attention but never seemed to hold a light to Helena - though that didn't stop Billy from playing them against each other. Relishing in their obsession over him. Over the years, Helena became the center of Billy's attention, the reason being was unknown, perhaps Helena had become a little better a flirting than her sister.  Whatever it was puppy love began to grow.

Five years into living on the ship and taking part in numerous crimes, Phillip and Jenna's friend wanted to aim for something bigger.  He was tired of living in broken down hunks of junk, floating from one job to the next just to survive. He wanted to retire. The job seemed simple from the outside. They were contracted by an unknown individual to rob a bank, on Osiris. This party was looking for something in particular, anything else Helena's crew took was their business. The hiring party just wanted a computer drive in safety deposit box.  It seemed silly, really all that for a computer drive - but the opportunity was too good. They were provided with the necessary information, the codes, the security schedule. Enough to go in undetected and take what they needed to, making violence unnecessary.

Believe it or not, the job went off without a hitch. They walked in and walked out, earned enough to retire, and obtained the drive for the client. But the family friend at this point, got greedy.  He held the drive hostage and required more funding from the requesting party. Little did he know - this was an Alliance officer, with the means to find him, and take whatever he needed to.  Whatever was on the drive, was the eventual demise of Helena's world. It all seemed quick really, an Alliance Cruiser quickly found the ship, detained it, and in a series of small motions her mother was shot down, her father was beaten half to death and detained, and her sister shot an Alliance Commander. All over a computer drive.

Helena, Hera, and Billy barely escaped with their lives. But the ship had a shuttle, and Billy disabled the tracking.  They landed on the closest moon narrowly escaping the authorities. Hera found a ship to disappear on with what money she had managed to keep on her and Helena never saw her again.  Billy and Helena at the time supposedly in love and scared, did what all young people do when they have their backs against the wall, they got married. In retrospect it was a terrible idea, really. After all unbeknownst to Helena, Billy had been sleeping with his sister all along. Helena was just the hopeless romantic of the two and Hera really only cared about a physical relationship.

The next few years were full of crime, booze, blackouts, fights, and one day the news of her father's death.  There was no explanation as to why or who.  But it was the end of her family. Helena and Billy began to drift apart, though he had been sleeping with anyone that he had come in contact with, which probably didn't help. Three years into their wayward marriage they divorced, and she kept his name. After all the association of Murdoff would only bring her trouble in the future. With Hera still in the wind, Helena drifted, destined to live the life of a vagrant.

Skills and Strengths:  Helena's skill set is mainly in combat.  Hand to hand, gun fights, and knife fights. From her family she learned a number of other tricks of the trade like pick pocketing, deception, and covert operations. She also has an uncanny ability to talk her way out of trouble. Though the statistics on that are a little uncertain, she would tell you she could smooth talk her way out of 90% of the situations she finds herself in.

Weaknesses:  Helena has a weakness for men, handsome men, charming men, kind, and brutish men. To be clear she's no harlot, but she won't hesitate to take part in a flirtatious conversation. Most of the time it'll cause a bit of a disturbance, whether it's a man who felt mislead or a woman who felt territorial.  She's better at creating wounds than fixing them and if you ask her to fix your ship it'll fall right out of the sky.
