  • Scout: I'll still have to get 10 posts in as Mattie before I'll get another character approved, correct?
  • Rolemancer: @Scout...Well get her together and maybe she can join us at the next stop.
  • Scout: It doesn't really fit with her character and I don't have the inspiration to create a new tech specialist. None of my existing characters fit that niche either I'm afraid :/
    March 23, 2018, 09:21:13 PM
  • Rolemancer: @Scout...Wushu just picked up a passenger. Why not make her a Tech Spec? :)
    March 23, 2018, 09:14:12 PM
  • Scout: She could join Wushu, if the "negotiable" position could be negotiated for a passenger ;)
    March 23, 2018, 08:19:08 PM
  • Scout: Pele, she was a companion who got sacked for stealing and there was all sorts of trouble for her
    March 23, 2018, 08:13:22 PM
  • Desertpuma: I do not see a problem with it. Who was the character?
    March 23, 2018, 08:01:28 PM
  • Scout: It's been like ten years real time (yikes), none of the characters who interacted with her are around anymore and I can't remember enough of her development to continue her, per se. But I loved the concept and would like to give her a new life.
    March 23, 2018, 06:59:28 PM
  • Scout: Would it be fine to reboot a character I played way back in the old FS? The one that took place 5+ years prior to the current incarnation?
    March 23, 2018, 06:58:17 PM
  • Desertpuma: You all have snow and I had a high yesterday of 86F
    March 22, 2018, 01:18:36 PM
  • Artemis Graham: It never snows over here so I can't grasp the annoying reality of having to drive in it. I'm just jealous I don't ever get to make snow angels...
    March 22, 2018, 01:12:30 PM
  • Scout: Yikes
    March 22, 2018, 06:43:29 AM
  • RUNE: That doesn't sound fun. Stay safe
    March 22, 2018, 06:29:09 AM
  • Rolemancer: Up to 9 inches so far and still snowing!
    March 22, 2018, 01:13:27 AM
  • Helena: lots of snow here
    March 22, 2018, 12:53:55 AM
  • Spacecowboy: No snow we had Tornados instead
    March 21, 2018, 11:07:06 PM
  • RUNE: Wuff. No fun, Role. We had some flurries yesterday but nothing stuck
    March 21, 2018, 10:13:27 PM
  • Rolemancer: WE're having a nice Spring SNOW storm! :(
    March 21, 2018, 09:38:47 PM
  • Spacecowboy: Hope everyone is having a great week
    March 21, 2018, 08:42:44 PM
  • Rolemancer: :D

Finding Serenity

Finding Serenity is an original-character roleplay set in Joss Whedon's Firefly 'Verse. Events take place after the events of the Serenity movie.

The year is 2519.

Earth-That-Was is long gone. Humans found a new group of solar systems with dozens of planets and hundreds of moons. The "Core" planets are civilised, high-tech and under Alliance control. The "Border" worlds are diverse and distinct. The "Rim" is the wild west of the 'verse and the "Black" is where our ships travel, hoping to avoid the perils of space: Alliance, pirates, and the monsters known as Reavers.

So here we are, on the "raggedy edge". This is where our characters live. There are those who stick by the Alliance Government, those who want to rise up against it, and those that just don't care either way as long as they can make a living. With every turn, every choice put forward and every decision made we are FINDING SERENITY

The Newbie Guide

In order to try to make it as easy as possible for people to explore the game and get involved in it, this guide has been put together to explain the basics of joining Finding Serenity. The steps of this guide are set up in an order that will hopefully start by familiarizing you with the game and end with leading you through the application process. Feel free to skip around as you see fit, but try to hit every step so you don't miss any important information.

The Setting, Plot and Premise
Head over to these topics to learn some of the basics about Finding Serenity.

The Rules and Questions
Click HERE to see our list of rules and posting regulations. Post questions here or ask in the Shoutbox if you can't seem to find the answers you need at this point.  The site is rated 15+ or .  For those that don't know what the RPG Rating means.

Language 2: Swearing is generally permitted. However, the language cannot be used to severely abuse.

Sexual Content 2: Sexual content is permitted. References and writing about genitalia and sex acts are permitted, but explicit detail is not. Fade to black, or mature tagging are recommended.

Violence 2: Graphic violence is permitted. Explicit description or in-game narration violence is allowed.

Once you have a basic idea for a character, at least, register a sub-account with the first and last name of that character properly capitalized, please. If you are stuck for character ideas, you may want to check the Census and Employed forums to see what current players have come up with and how they've addressed their applications.  Also check out the Crew Manifests to see what positions are open.

The Application Process
Check out the application template and start filling it out. Once the application's done and posted in the Character Application forum (with your character's name as the thread title), wait for your application to be reviewed. Please don't post in any IC forums until your character has been approved.  Generally it is sooner but it can take up to 48 hours for someone to get back to you in relation to your application. To check which play-by's have already been taken please check the listing of the Casting Call.  Once you've completed your application add your chosen play-by to the Answer the Call thread to reserve them. Once your application has been approved and moved to the Census forum, you're ready to play!

Getting Started
If you don't already have threading or plotting opportunities lined up, posting a thread in the RP Opportunities forum with some brainstorming ideas may be a good way to introduce people to your character and get started. Feel free to PM individual players if you spot a specific character you would like to thread with.

The basic format of and information in this guide were provided by Dun of RPG-D. Please do not redistribute this guide in an altered format or remove this credit for the original template. The original template may be found at RPG-D and edited for any forum RPG.
