Finding Serenity

Finding Serenity is an original-character roleplay set in Joss Whedon's Firefly 'Verse. Events take place after the events of the Serenity movie.

The year is 2519.

Earth-That-Was is long gone. Humans found a new group of solar systems with dozens of planets and hundreds of moons. The "Core" planets are civilised, high-tech and under Alliance control. The "Border" worlds are diverse and distinct. The "Rim" is the wild west of the 'verse and the "Black" is where our ships travel, hoping to avoid the perils of space: Alliance, pirates, and the monsters known as Reavers.

So here we are, on the "raggedy edge". This is where our characters live. There are those who stick by the Alliance Government, those who want to rise up against it, and those that just don't care either way as long as they can make a living. With every turn, every choice put forward and every decision made we are FINDING SERENITY

."Yes yes by all means..." He glanced back to Jo..."What she said, let's do that....then." He paused for second before continuing. "But as soon as you can let's kill that signal."

Abigail nodded in agreement smirking at Jax, "Sounds like a plan." She was about to leave when Jo added some pertinent information,

Quote
”About Mr. Finnegan…” Dark, doe shaped eyes looked down at her computer screen for a brief moment, the corner of her mouth quirking slightly as she bit at the inside of her cheek. A short, heavy sigh escaped her as she looked back up. Far from looking guilty, there was a bit of a smile dancing in her eyes. ”I’ve… ah… I’ve met him once before. On Newhall no less. Caught him picking pockets and sort of cornered him on it. Never gave him my real name and never got his real name, but I figure the Tong might have just caught him attempting to ‘borrow’ something without permission.” Laying a heavy, almost sarcastic emphasis on the word borrow, Jo offered up a shrug. ”I’ll see what I can dig up now that I have his real name.”

Falling quiet, she watched the faces of Jax and Abigail hoping this wasn’t grounds to toss her from the job as well as the ship. She didn’t think it would be, but there was always a chance it might. Once again, her eyes went to her computer. ”The back trace should be easy enough and killing the signal too. If the tracker is inside, I could probably even pull the gorram thing and disassemble it for parts. Might even be able to do it before putting on coffee in the morning.”

She rose her brow and looked over at Jax, it was interesting information, though Jo seemed trustworthy enough. Perhaps they could use it to their advantage.

"Yes...find out what you can, it might be necessary later on should we need more information on him. In the mean time, let's find the signal, get what information we can, and kill it. Quickly." She looked back at Jax and nodded towards their quarters, "As the captain said, probably best to get some shut eye though, do what you can wake us if trouble arises." And with that Abigail left to get some much needed shut eye.

Jo nodded, a grin playing across her face. She knelt down and typed in Sean's name, started the scan and then moved back to the ladder. Climbing down quickly, she headed back to the last place she'd seen Sean, the galley. Just before poking her head in, she wiped the smile from her face and scanned the room. Once she spotted Sean, she cleared her throat. "Hate to break up the party, but..." she pointed at Sean. "Orders from 'on high'. You're wanted. Few questions need answering. Now."

Nodding to the others, particularly Emit to assure the man she'd be fine, she motioned for Sean to join her. 'Oh this should be interesting... to say the least.' Her face remained serious, even as she began recalling their meeting only a few years prior. He'd made no indication that he knew or remembered her and she'd done the same. She figured she was in for a long night before she saw any sleep.

A wide a mischievous smiles split the thief's lips before he took another few healthy swigs from his flask.

"Ordered to be brought up to a fair lasses boudoir?"  he smoothly pushed the chair back and sprang to his feet bowing toward Jo, righting himself then spun on his heel tipping his head to Charity and Amoru.

"G'night to ye gentles, and may ye sleep the sleep o' princesses and princes."

He turned to Emit and gave him a bit of a salute with two fingers and lowered his voice, not quite slurring.

"You man your station well ye do sir. We shall all sleep better under your hawk like gaze!"

Then he turned and mounted the ladder up to Jo's room with a mock heavy sigh.

"Tis a rough assignment this is" smile evident in his voice, "but duty calls."

Art's mind had been drifting. She was grumpy and out of sorts. During her days as a Captain she'd gotten used to seeing trouble behind every corner but back then she'd had a crew she could trust. Now? Well, she felt very alone. It was a troublesome thought for someone who prided herself on needing no one. Reyes and Charity. Jax and Abigail. Hell, even Jo and the most troublesome element aboard the ship seemed to be sneaking off for some alone time. Art's eyes flashed from Emit to Grace, remembering the fact that the pair had boarded together. She frowned noticeably and resisted the urge to say 'balls' aloud. Always the odd one out.

Rising rather abruptly, Art's eyes flicked to no one in particular. "Well, if anyone needs me, I'll be in my bunk." Without waiting for a response she drifted off. A quick glance into the Med Bay caused her pause. If her eyes spied correctly, she saw a chilly looking bottle of the bubbles she'd directed Grace to earlier. Feeling eternally grateful to the good doctor, Art grabbed her booty and changed tact, heading towards the engine room. Setting the bottle aside, she pried open one of the crates that she'd brought aboard and was rewarded by the discovery of a handful of shiny looking glasses. Apparently her supplier had taken a shine to the her (she had been using her most charming features at the time) and included them with her bottles. Feeling that at least something had gone right in her evening, Art expertly removed the cork, poured herself a glass and put up her feet while watching the engine spin.

Initially she'd wanted to hide her champagne sipping ways from the crew. That idea had faded so quickly she hadn't even bothered to close the door. She was too old and too tired to keep up the facade. And so she closed her eyes, took her first sip of a very fine drop and let her problems drift away. At least until the bottle ran dry.

Jax followed Abigail to the Captain's quarters leaving the bug issue in Blaylocke's capable hands. He was exhausted and there were still tasks aplenty to go around, but for now they would have to wait. Jax was out as soon as his head hit the pillow, he tried to listen to Abigail but it wasn't long before she noticed he was fast asleep. If he had hoped for a restful sleep it was not to come as his mind was filled with distressing dreams.

Time jump a few hours to Newhall.

Abigail awoke abruptly, startled away but the god awful noise Jax was making. It was still an adjustment sleeping next to him, after all they hadn't really been together that long. They just fallen back into old habits. Were they even together? She sighed and closed her eyes attempting gain any more sleep if at all possible. But it wouldn't come. She clenched her back teeth and looked over at the man disturbing her sleep, he was face down, arm hanging off the bed, drooling into the pillow. She wasn't a morning person, and hadn't her sleep being interrupted even less.

She got up and got dressed, leaving their room for the bridge she looked over the coordinates. They were just a few hours out, thankfully things were picking up.  As much as she didn't agree with the job they needed the money, and passengers awaited them on Newhall. Hopefully it'd give them a little wiggle room.  She  left for the galley starting up the coffee and grabbing a cup of her own, Abigail closed her eyes, enjoying the peace and serenity. Opening them she saw a pan, and a wooden spoon.  A sly smile crossed her lips, thinking back to the man the bed, with the snoring. She placed the cup down and picked up the pan and spoon, walking back to her room casually.

Abigail stood next to Jax , held the pan directly next to his ear , and began to bang it. Loudly. Stopping quickly she smiled at him sweetly,

"Sorry if I woke you dearest, but we're a few hours from Newhall." And with that she quickly turned, give his butt a quick pat with spoon and walked back to the galley, where she resumed to drink her cup of coffee.

Charity woke up with a long, drawn out humming in the back of her mind, her eyes closed tight and a hand lifting to settle on her temples, a gentle sound of discomfort slipping past her soft lips. After some intense mental deliberation, the woman slowly opened her eyes, wincing at the light she'd left on in her room. Sitting up, the debutante took stock of her surrounding and her state of dress, horrified to see that she'd fallen asleep in her petticoats and corset, not having had the presence of mind to change into her sleeping gown. Everything was dreadfully wrinkled and she had to stop herself from groaning in distress at the sight of her crimson gown left discarded on the ground. This was all Abigail's fault. Abigail and the paint thinner she'd given Charity the night before.

With a pained sigh, the woman slid out of bed and tidied up before setting to the arduous task of washing, dressing, primping, and getting her hair and makeup to a level of perfection she could be happy with. Charity looked in her mirror as she clasped a necklace around her neck, letting the decorative gems settle nicely atop her collar bone, fingertips sliding down over the sparkling jewels. A heavily accessorized hand lifted to clasp her hair back from her face with another ornate hair pin, the dark curls falling nicely into place down her back. With one final look over the dark purple silk dupioni gown, with its inlaid beading and embroidered black roses, the woman nodded once in approval and turned to leave her room, shutting the door behind her.

Task number one for the morning was to fetch a large glass of water to still the hammering in her head. She walked past the crew cabins, her heels clicking loudly on the ground as she moved, and made her slow but purposeful way to the galley, glancing in toward the infirmary as she passed it. Her gaze settled upon Abigail and slowly slid down to the cup of coffee, her eyes narrowing suspiciously. Was that actually coffee, she wondered, thinking it might have been some toxic concoction. Still, it was morning and the polite thing to do here was to greet the XO with all the manners she possessed, "Abigail, lovely to see you," she said smoothly, moving to look around for a glass or a cup or something to drink water out of, "I hope you slept well," Charity continued, her chin aloft.

It had seemed such a great idea using physical violence to solve her problems but really it just added to them.  Grace reeled back from the wall slightly, her hand now pressed to her head as she sighed and fell back on her bed.  This was going to leave a mark.  Lying back she continued to hold her hand to her forehead in a medically proven way to reduce head pain.  Shortly after that failed she decided to get some ice from the infirmary.  Forcing herself to her feet she moved to the door and slid it open, footsteps could be heard coming from the galley.  Preferring to avoid conversation she ducked her head down towards the floor as she stepped out into the hall and headed towards her second home only to run into Amy and Charity.  Arms locked as she’d witnessed upon their entry into the galley as well she did her best to hide her reaction but inside she was in turmoil over it.

”Charity…  Amorru...”  She barely mumbled out the first name, the second she couldn’t be sure if she actually pronounced the syllables or not as her throat had become suddenly dry.  She could feel her hands clamming up and every millisecond in this awkward situation was more painful than the last.  Only in passing did her eyes meet with theirs as they travelled from the floor in front of the two over to behind them.  The situation reaching pinnacle cringe for her she finally made the decision to just move on and leave the awkward pieces where they lay.

”Well.”  Her last words to them as she did a military-esque about face and bee-lined past them down the hall, at first in a fast pace then in a clumsy half-run half-jog turned the corner and disappeared in the inventory.  The door couldn’t shut fast enough as she leaned back against it clutching an imaginary clip board against her chest.

”Okay.”  She muttered breathily.

”He’s not getting to you… he’s trying to get to you.  That’s it… but he’s not.”  She re-assured herself to a questionable amount of success before moving over to the sink and letting the water run.  She washed her face before grabbing an ice pack in her hastily re-organized storage.  This time she peaked out of the infirmary before leaving, the coast was clear and in a similarly clunky half-run/jog she zipped back into her room and shut the door resting the ice pack on her head.

It had been a sleepless night for the doctor.  The more she tried to focus on something else the more she thought about Amorru and Charity.  Then Amorru and Charity together.  Then for some reasons flashes of her childhood but not just random parts of it.  That specific day when she acquired the handkerchief that she now wiped unexplained tears from her eyes with.

Grace didn’t need the alarm that went off at 4:30am as she had been watching the minutes die and the hours fail.  Despite this she stared at the clock for another half hour before getting out of bed and digging through her clothes found a pair of plain, unembroidered pants and a blouse.  Gathering up the courage to face the day she left her cabin and with more comfort entered the hallway knowing there was little chance she’d run into an inebriated Charity or an any condition Amorru at this time of day.  She made the short trek back to the infirmary and began to clean the inventory up again, hoping the pilot could find some way not to toss the ship about and disrupt her order.  Fat chance.

Some hours later she heard footsteps passing, they were soft but the clicking was that unmistakably made by heels and Charity.  In an effort to avoid a conversation she wasn’t ready for the doctor pressed against the wall behind a storage unit that blocked the view from the entrance and thankfully the heels began to click again.  It was then that Grace realized how stupid she was being, what was she a child?  Hiding from a friend because of a boy?  Resolving herself not to let this go any further she headed out of the infirmary and followed the sound of the heels into the galley where Charity was now greeting Abigail.  Noticing her rummage around for a glass Grace ceased the opportunity and having a much keener awareness of where items of that nature were kept she pulled a glass out, filled it with cold water and handed it to Charity.

”Here.  You’re going to need to drink a few glasses of this to get rid of that headache.”  She offered with an uncharacteristically forced smile to the girl.

”I have some hydration pills as well if you have any lingering issues.”  She followed up before grabbing a glass of water herself.

Jo woke up slowly, blinking at the semi dark room around her as her sleep addled mind tried to recall where she was and what it was she'd been doing the night and day before. Memory slowly asserted itself as she dragged herself from the bed, everything finally clicking into place as she looked at the trunk in which her belongings were kept. Atop it were bits and pieces of the tracking device she had killed and disassembled for parts, which brought back the entire previous day, though not exactly in the correct order. The presence of a familiar face on board, having chatted with him for some time and enlisted his help in killing and removing the tracking device brought a smile that was almost instantly killed by a yawn.

Clearing the parts and storing them in her work kit, Jo went about getting some work out clothing on and enjoying a long stretch afterwards. Stepping from her room on the crew deck, she heard some movement in the galley and then smelled the brewed coffee. Her smile returned at the memory of having swapped out the coffee just before calling it a night. Deciding to ask about it, she headed to the door and poked her head in to find Abigail, Grace and Charity present, though Abigail seemed to be the only one taking coffee. "Morning," she said, though not overly loudly. "Coffee alright? I swapped it out for what I had. The other stuff seemed a little stale."

"All the 'Verse is a stage, baobao, And all the men and women merely players..."

Amorru's abdominal muscles flexed and his arms coiled, laborious breaths leaving his lungs as he thrust deeper and deeper. Sweat formed upon his brow, wiped away with the back of his hand before returning it to the task of firmly gripping the comfortable and familiar base of his beloved. Soft hisses escaped between grit teeth, his thrust becoming more forceful, his touch hitting all the right spots. He had to admit to himself, for all the play and exertion, he missed just holding her the most. And now, in the low light of the passenger bunk he'd cordoned for his own use due to the spacious closets, he finally had her all to himself. He just hadn't meant to stay up with her most of the night. Not that he'd think to complain for a second. But it'd been so long, and when he found her laying in his bunk looking dejected and unjustifiably ignored he considered only a complete nutter could resist the opportunity. He savored the chance to practice his form.

Completely spent, rivulets of sweat dripping down his naked body, Amorru fell to his knees as he cradled her in his arms. He moved on to the next part of this bonding ritual, cleaning her shimmering surface with a soft white cloth. Holding her carefully in one hand, the other glided across the length of her slowly. In many ways he just went through the motions, but he always found enjoyment in this routine. It helped him feel connected to her; reminded him to treat her like an extension of himself - to love her like he loved himself. A lofty goal, but one he enjoyed pursuing.

Reyes lifted the sword's hilt toward his face, looking down the blade and turning it slightly until satisfied with its shine. He placed the rapier back into his precious carrying case, then laid in the scabbard and belt along next to it. The cleaning oil he'd swiped from the engine room and the soft white pads borrowed from the infirmary stored away nicely in a shallow drawer hidden  between the handle and one of the locks, which Amorru clicked shut before locking with the key he kept on a chain around his neck. Looking at the key, Amorru stopped to dwell on Charity for the first time since he departed from her bunk's door. She'd left him with her tea cup and saucer and little else, barely managing to mumble a dismissive "good night" before placing the door between herself and whatever intentions he may or may not have harbored. He'd hoped to get a little closer to her in the night hours, whether it meant the involved task of peeling her out of her gown or simply trying to get her drunk enough to spill her secrets: Where was she from? Who or what was she escaping? And why was she so gorram interested in him?

It wouldn't be the first time Bodwyn attempted to entrap him with a comely lass, though he felt insulted his brother sent such a... typical distraction. Of course they hadn't spoken in over a decade, but even during his days as Galileo Duschane the lordling held little favor for the flowers of the court. He found those ladies who practiced swordplay far more interesting than those that practiced at lie-craft, though he held some respect for the way the gown and make up covered debutantes feinted and dodged. Then his mind went to Charity, her golden, statuesque form falling into the Captain's arms like an unexpected treasure dropping from the sky. Hmph... Amorru crossed his arms and huffed. Who the rut is she?

Scanning the room with emerald eyes, Amorru saw the time and considered he should probably check in on the autopilot soon. But first, he'd stop in the galley for breakfast. Looking through the vibrantly colored wardrobe within the closet, Amorru settled on a shimmering pink kimono with large white flowers, synched it so the hem would be even with his knees, and put a pair of traditional tabi socks on his feet. The garments were rare of course, and rather eccentric choices for a boat, but they suited him. He slipped into a pair of wooden sandals and clicked and clacked his way into the galley with his arms tucked away in his sleeves and a smug expression of self-satisfaction on his face.

"Konnichi wa!" Amorru beamed as he entered the galley, "Everyone slept soundly, I hope!" Charity, Jo, Grace and Abigail were gathered within, but the pilot made a calculated point not to single out any of the gathered crew as one whose presence he may or may not prefer. Amorru's nose crinkled at the topic of coffee, as if the bubbling crude liquid had been harvested from beans already digested at least once. Moving to the cabinet for access to his precious tea packs, Amorru took a look at Abigail and thought she looked a bit rougher around the edges than usual. He knew her to have a reputation as a hard woman, but he got the impression that she was softer than she put on. Especially where it mattered. "Well, then, Missus Captain. What's got your knickers in a wad this mornin'?"

Smirking as if Abigail's answer held no importance whatsoever, Amorru's stupid handsome face was wholly unprepared for Abigail's response.

It hadn't been long after that Abigail decided to wake up Jax, that Charity walked. Looking a little worse for wear.  She smirked into her cup as she took a sip of coffee and followed the debutante with her eyes.
Quote
"Abigail, lovely to see you," she said smoothly, moving to look around for a glass or a cup or something to drink water out of, "I hope you slept well,"

She swallowed and smirked slightly, "Quite, actually." That was a lie, she never slept well, but torturing Chairty was far more fun than being truthful. Albeit, most things were. "Like a baby....Hope that moonshine wasn't too much for you last night." Obviously it had been.  It tickled Abigail, how effected Charity was by the boot leg alcohol that had been left here by some wonderful and unknown soul.  She watched as Charity stumbled her way around in some what desperation trying to find a glass, Maybe I should help. Abigail watched the passenger some more and thought, Nah. Her decision however was negated by a much kinder being, though she was a doctor, and Abigail supposed that they needed that kind of empathy and compassion.  Even after the show Amy and Charity and put on last night, Grace managed to be as friendly as ever.

Shaking her head in aw Abigail sipped her coffee slightly.  She had respect for the doctor, she as hell would never have that kind of patience.

Quote
"Morning," she said, though not overly loudly. "Coffee alright? I swapped it out for what I had. The other stuff seemed a little stale."

Abigail turned to Jo and offered a quick nod, "Aye that it is...Hope you had a productive evening." A small nod to their discussion the night before.  However the pleasantries were interrupted quickly by the entrance of a gleaming Amorru. Her jaw clenched at his entrance, it was so much of his cheery disposition, but just his general existence.  His ability to get most of the women on board in some sort of state, between Art, Charity, and poor Grace.  She eyed the dandy and his perfectly quaffed hair, irritated by his presence. However it was his next comment that pushed her slightly over the edge.

Quote
"Well, then, Missus Captain. What's got your knickers in a wad this mornin'?"
She stared blankly at the wall first, her cup still near her mouth, mid sip.  Abigail swallowed and placed her cup down gently. Debating how to play her next move, turning to Amorrune she gave him a soft shy smile.  She bit her lower lip and brushed a gold lock behind her ear.  Moving closer she placed her hand on his shoulder softly, giving it a bit of a squeeze,

"You know...I think...it might be you." Her demeanor changing quickly, Abigail grabbed Amy by his pompous fluff of hair and pulled his had back, she moved up next to his ear, "Call me Missus again, or say another word about my panties...and it will be your last." She hissed, promptly releasing his hair. She gave Amorru a quick pat on the cheek, 'Preciate you asking about my morning though. Real sweet of ya." She grinned and went back to grab her coffee, moving to take a seat at the table.

Emit had been the last to leave the galley as late night had turned into early dawn. Downing the last drops of his coffee he reached into his vest pocket producing another yellow pill. With a low mutter to himself,he swallowed it down.
With smooth skillful gestures, Emit's hands made quick work of checking and loading the cylinders of each revolver. For any who might have been conducting surveillance of their own or still waiting on the Sandman,Emit's light footsteps could be heard making rounds throughout the ship.

”Here. You’re going to need to drink a few glasses of this to get rid of that headache. I have some hydration pills as well if you have any lingering issues,” Grace offered generously.

Charity took the offered glass and beamed brilliantly at the doctor, a woman who she still considered the person she was the closest to on the ship. Mostly because she didn't know how terribly last night had looked to the casual observer, what with Amorru and Charity sharing tea and heading off toward her bedroom. Of course, she'd parted ways at the door and slept alone, but it was possible some people had their own twisted ideas about how the fashionable spent their evening. Reaching out, the debutante settled a gentle hand atop the doctor's upper arm, "Thank you, Grace," she murmured warmly, lowering her hand and taking a delicate sip of the water, despite wanting to down the whole thing in one go. She was a lady, after all, and ladies didn't chug their drinks...

"Konnichiwa! Everyone slept soundly, I hope!" Reyes greeted.

Glass still in hand, Charity turned to look toward their pilot's entrance, her brows rising in slow surprise and awe at the outfit he'd chosen to greet them in. Her gaze slid over the pink of his kimono and settled, for a moment, on the man's bare shins before continuing down to the socks and wooden sandals adorning his feet. Somehow he was managing to look an utter mess and quite fashion forward at the same time, although she wasn't sure how he was pulling that off. "Y....es," she answered, finally tearing her attention off his clothing and staring at his face.

"Well, then, Missus Captain. What's got your knickers in a wad this mornin'?" the Pilot asked, regrettably.
"You know...I think...it might be you," Abigail informed him before yanking his head around and releasing him. "Call me Missus again, or say another word about my panties...and it will be your last," she warned.

With a gasp, the woman set her glass down and put her hand over her heart, appalled at Abigail's continued violent behavior. First her dress, and now Reyes' hair?! The woman was a menace, an absolute menace. How was she ever going to get this beast of a harpy to pass for high society when she couldn't even bat her eyelashes and smile demurely when a man said something ridiculous?! "My goodness," she finally managed, having been shocked into speechlessness by the violence so early in the morning. Moving away from Grace, Charity approached Reyes, her hands held out as though ready to steady him after such a brutal attack on his perfectly arranged hair. Her gaze rested, then, upon Abigail in absolute horror at her lack of manners.

Sean eased out of his room scrubbing at his damp, messy hair a bit and wiping at one eye.  Steadfastly ignoring the sour looks he knew he was likely to receive.

"Sorry for my rumpled appearance good folk, was a bit of a long night after all," he informed everyone in the galley as he hooked a mug and poured up coffee into it, he nudged Jo in the shoulder with his elbow as he passed and then took a seat and poured a healthy dose from his flask into the mug.

"Long night indeed," he drawled with a smile, "I must say my good Jolene, you looked simply lìng rén táozuì hanging there from that sling last night. Dead sexy." then he took a long drink from his mug.

Jo was at first completely confused by the pilot's choice of clothing, staring at him as if he'd grown another face on the back of his head. Adding to the confusion was Abigail's initial response, which seemed highly favorable to the man. Right up until she caught hold of his hair. From there onward, the 'conversation' was more in line with what she expected from the XO and it took all Jo had to keep from smiling. Instead, she pressed her lips together and her eyes went wide as she watched the scene unfold and Charity come to the pilot's rescue.

Clearing her throat, she looked from Charity and Amorru to Abigail. "Rather productive evening. 'Killed off' a good bit of work before getting some sleep." Then, as emphasis to underscore the hidden meaning of her words, Sean made his appearance, bumping her as he passed her. One hand went to her hip, as if she were highly annoyed by it, but then he hit her with his comments about their activities the previous night. Only, the way he phrased it would throw everyone in the room for quite the loop. It was too much to resist and she decided to play along.

"Mmm... I think I've heard that one before. Hmm, yes, every time in fact." A smirk played across her face as she pushed away from the door frame. "If you need me, XO, I'll be down in the cargo hold. Need to work out and wake up a bit. Unless you need anything before I go?"

The ship hit Atmo with only it's port side engine still running and the ground coming up fast. Jax fought with the controls trying to keep the vessel from stalling into a death spiral. As he wrestled with the falling crafts stabilization, he also tried to fire back up the other engine to no avail. Jax 's head began to pound as the warning klaxon kept up it's steady rhythmic beat, it was throwing off his concentration as he began to focus on the bellowing sound which slowly transformed into a metallic hammering echo. Suddenly his eyes opened, his face half buried in a pillow. He looked up not quite sure where he was at first.

"Sorry if I woke you dearest, but we're a few hours from Newhall." And with that Abigail quickly turned, gave his butt a quick pat with the spoon and walked back to the galley, where she resumed to drink her cup of coffee.

Jax rolled over and threw off the covers, he just laid there.... What a nightmare. He thought as Abigail turned to exit the room.
"Thanks Sweetie!" Jax called out after her as the door shut. He slowly got up and went about washing up and dressing for the long day ahead.

[GALLEY]

Jax quietly slipped up to the galley entrance pausing to see the crew gathered about. The aroma of coffee and some breakfast cooking was a welcome sense. "Good morning!" He announced as he entered moving straight away to the pot of steamy black goodness. Eyeing Jo as he passed...."I trust everything went well last night?" He asked but didn't stop for an answer. As he poured a cup of the last remnants of coffee..."Thanks for the wake up." Was addressed to Abigail as the last stream of coffee came to an end full of grinds to go with it. "Harumph." Was the only response Jax could muster.

Amorru smirked noticeably as Abigail approached him, pleased to have finally won her over. Not that he harbored any genuine interest in the woman, but it was best to keep one's options open in the black. After all, Jo seemed as preoccupied with Sean as Art her own engine, Charity's interest seemed firmly on the secrets he kept under his bed rather than in his trousers, and Grace was... Well, there she was. Remembering how well his interactions with Charity seemed to twist Grace's demeanor, the self-satisfied smirk deepened for a moment before his smug expression melted into unbridled mortification as Abigail snagged a handful of his perfectly coiffed pompadour.

Unable to understand a single word she said, let alone the underlying, vitriolic thread behind her words as the XO's hand tapped his cheek, Amorru's jade eyes narrowed into acidic slits. "What. Have. You. Done!?" The rakish pilot's arms tensed and his hands balled up into fists, his upper body shaking as his jaw clenched hard enough to shatter his perfectly maintained teeth. He barely registered Charity's open armed approach as he pointed a finger at Abigail as if running her through, the mess she'd made of his fancy follicles making him look even more ridiculous than usual. "Do you have any IDEA how much effort i put into styling my hair in the morning!? DO YOU!? I can't just hop out the Cap'n's bedrolls, shake loose like a wet dog, throw on a sweatband and call it a 'look' the way you do. Hey! Are you listening to me?"

Amorru huffed, his open left hand rising to where she popped his cheek as if he just realized that particular encroachment upon his person as well. "Heh. And I thought you was 'upposed to be a right proper doyenne of a bird." Oblivious to Xavier's entrance to the Galley, Reyes went in for the death stroke. "Figure you hit the Cap'n a might harder than that when you're underneath him, earnin' your keep."

Abigail smirked, relishing in Amorru's displeasure. She found his entire 'look' a tad nauseating, messing up his hair almost made it better. The man was spurting some kind of insult at her about her general style and how she looked in the morning, if only she cared. However he quickly stepped over the line,

Her eyes narrowed, and her face began to turn red. Not out of embarrassment but sheer rage, launching her self out of her seat with clenched fist. She grabbed Amorru by his shirt and accelerated the speed of her weapon of choice directly at the dandy's face. It came into contact with his nasal region quickly, a crunch was felt and heard, pulling her fist back she let the pretty faced delinquent go. Her hand had his blood on it,

"That. Is how I earn my keep here. It would be good for you to remember that." She looked up at Jax, currently displeased with the state of his coffee, she gave him the rest of hers.

"Have mine, ground free."  Acting as if nothing out of the norm had occurred.

"I must say my good Jolene, you looked simply lìng rén táozuì hanging there from that sling last night. Dead sexy," the stranger complimented.
"Mmm... I think I've heard that one before. Hmm, yes, every time in fact," Jo replied.

What in the blazes was going on on this ship? Was it truly a brothel and no one had bothered to inform her of such? Their new tiny tech specialist was apparently fooling around with the suspicious and obvious mole? While hanging from the ceiling? Well, she supposed she'd heard rumors about certain types of people being into risky and out of the norm behavior like that when it came to courting one another, but still, the spy?! Charity shot them both a dubious look, one brow raised and almost motherly disapproval written plain as day across her sweet, doll like features, her crimson lips drawn in a straight, thoughtful line.

"I trust everything went well last night?" Jax asked Jo. Charity had been about to spare the Captain a nod of greeting and a murmured hello when Amorru quite completely grabbed the entirety of her attention with one sentence.

"Figure you hit the Cap'n a might harder than that when you're underneath him, earnin' your keep," he implied nastily.

The debutante's lips parted in horrified surprise, one of the hands she'd used to steady the pilot lifting to settle atop her heart. Even if she wasn't fond of Abigail, it was terribly ill-mannered to suggest a woman was easy or perhaps only around for the carnal and less than polite activities. Especially when that woman was their second in command and had possession of a gun, or perhaps several. "Amorru," she whispered disapprovingly, surely he knew that what he'd said had been absolutely primitive. However, before she could chide the man properly, Abigail rose and smashed his poor nose out of place!

"That. Is how I earn my keep here. It would be good for you to remember that," the woman corrected calmly, although the venom in her words was unmistakable.

With her hands still hovering near the pilot's arms from before, she gasped in surprise when he was knocked back into her arms, landing against her lace covered chest and sending her crashing to the floor with him in a vibrant puff of sparkles, expensive fabrics, and glimmering jewels, her curls bouncing slightly and jostling free of the ornate hairpin holding the dark tresses back. The woman let out a stunned squeak of disbelief as she tumbled downward, one elegant hand reaching out to grab at something to steady herself, two fingers hooking around the back of the necklace around Amorru's neck and yanking. The delicate gold chain snapped beneath the pressure, releasing its hold on the precious charm it carried. Only when she was down did she realize what happened, her hand slapping over his chest to grab at the little key, turning the movement into a concerned patting. Soon after, her fingers curled around the metal in her palm, sliding it off him and slipping it into the pocket hidden among the many folds of her large skirts.

"Are you alright?!" she asked, the blood on his face telling him that no, no he wasn't.  Her eyes focused all the more on the way his nose was bent out of its proper shape and the deep red of the blood dripping down past the cupid's bow of his lips and quite suddenly, the world began to spin around her in a dizzying vortex of color and sound, "Oh...oh my," she murmured before her thick lashes fluttered shut and she passed out half atop the bleeding pilot.

Sean hadn't moved...finishing his sip of coffee and placing the cup back on the, slightly readjusted, table top his eyebrows climbing high.  Well things just got more interesting by the minute, and here he had been trying to get people into a bit of a huff.  Upstaged by just a lot it seemed.

"Aye lad," he observed, "Ye've got the pretty an' all but ye certainly seem te be lacking a certain way with the ladies, sure." the thief fished out a handkerchief for the man's streaming nose and tried to figure out exactly where you were supposed to grab a women amidst so many ruffles and such to help her up from a faint.

"Ehh, I don't want to seem a prat, but I don't know this lady at all. I'm not sure I should be puttin' hands on her, aye?"
