Name: Tara Marx-Iakovlev
Age:  37
Gender:  Female

Occupation: Captain(But where is your ship?)
Secondary: XO/Security Chief/Gunhand

Appearance: A slim 5' 9" frame but Athletic. Cute as a button with green eyes, fair complexion and dark brown hair. Hair is often kept mid length but she has been known to grow it long from time to time.

Face Claim: Olga Kurylenko

Equipment: Just a few trinkets Tara has collected over the years; Auto Pistol, Ballistic Mesh Vest, Chameleon Suit, ChemPlast Charge, Cortex Terminal(black box),  DataBook, Commpack(short range), Debugger, Fake IdentCard, Lock Picks,
Electronic Picks.

Initial Personality: Upon first meeting one would not even imagine what really resided inside Tara's attractive frame. Friendly but cautious with an addictive smile, she can draw you into a false sense of security while not even knowing the danger you were truly in. Even if one was able to get a glimpse past her wall it would only be the tip of an iceberg best left below the surface. Of course depending on her mood you just might provoke her immediately and then watch out.

Underlying Personality: Tara has a strong feeling of family ties and loyalty, especially to her father.  Though at times she has found herself at odds with him and has pretty much done the opposite of what he has expected or asked, she still holds a soft spot buried deep inside for him. Tara has also kept herself from getting involved with anyone seriously, her work making that difficult at best. She came close once, but it didn't work out and it has left a bitter taste in her mouth for the opposite sex. As for her mother, one would learn she didn't know her well having died when she was young. The details of which are sketchy, but often lead back to her dad which could be the reason for her tenacious demeanor in certain matters.

Known History: Tara Marx-Iakovlev daughter of Syndicate crime boss Mikhail Iakovlev, Born 2482 on Ariel. Her mother died when she was five years old by an uncertain accident. Acquiring a letter of recommendation she proceeded to Sihon and entered The Companion's Guild. Tara never made it to graduation day but was dismissed for an unspecified reason, though she did take with her an expanse of training that would come in handy in her future endeavors. She then attended one of the most preeminent universities on Londinum; no expense was too high for Daddy's Girl. Tara graduated with honors but instead of securing lawful employment she drifted off the straight and narrow.

Tara then worked her way into the Sihnon Trade Commission as an undercover agent tracking down those trying to bribe Commission officers. Soon she was sought out by the very Syndicate that her father was a part of. With beauty and brains, Tara became a true Rogue, easy on the eyes and hard on the heart. She effortlessly made a name for herself without her father's assistance or approval.

The Alliance nor Interpol have ever been able to find evidence to link her to any illicit covert activity, even though they have their strong belief she has been involved in several unsolved cases. In the end it didn't take too long for her enemies list to grow. Those jealous of her success eventually ran her out into the Black where she has been existing job to job on the Rim and Border Worlds.

Other History: Tara grew up a spoiled daddy's girl. Her father not being home much always bought her gifts and treasures from around the 'Verse. Her mother having died when she was five left the door open for a new mom, but only nanny's and governesses filled the void.

In her early high school days she started to look into her mom's history, her family and her final days alive. It seemed a string of unfortunate events lead to her mother's death and all evidence pointed to dad. This began to drive a wedge between their relationship as he would never desire to speak about it.

Tara transitioned smoothly from the Guild House to college as her years there were pretty much uneventful, just your average college age kid trouble or so it seemed. Tara did make a good number of important contacts over that time which would prove helpful in forthcoming years. The Companions' Guild and the Trade Commission, in an out of the ordinary way, were stepping stones to the underworld, the one thing her father wanted her to stay away from. In the end she did it not so much to provoke her father but in was in her blood, she loved the danger, the rush and exhilaration of the vocation.

After it all came crashing down and she made tracks for the Border Worlds where she landed on the Greyhound Zephyr. Tara spent about eight months aboard working as a mediator betwixt Captain Garibaldi and a Beylix Crime Boss. She grew close to his crew during her stay and one in particular, the first mate. Though not much transpired between the two, there was an attraction there that was never acted upon nor seen since.

Captain Gino Garibaldi is a great contact of Tara Marx, though she doesn't see everything in his light. She does think he is a bit of an old fool, but would never say that to his face. A bit of sarcasm may creep into her voice in response to some of his commands from time to time. All in all, she has made quite a bit of coin working with Gino and she sees no reason to end that now. When he needs her help she is quick to lend a hand, but in the mean time she free-lances where she can in hopes of returning to her rightful place running the Iakovlev Syndicate one day.

Correspondence: A letter that has surfaced on the Cortex:

Good day Mister Siegfried,

This intelligence I'm about to give you isn't anything that can't be easily gleaned from the Cortex if one was so inclined, so don't think I'm sharing any secretive information with you hon. Mikhail Iakovlev is my Father's name. When I started school I took my Mother's maiden name (Marx), to help not draw any undue attention. Of course I've brought infamy to the Marx name since graduating all on my own. Let's see... The Blastomeres incident and that so called "Savage" killing on Ita Moon, of which I didn't even take part....I swear. Oh and just a tiny little run in with Adelei Niska, who would have thought it be so easy to shut down the power on a SkyPlex.

Luv,
Tara M. Iakovlev

Secret History: Her Mother was murdered by a close family member, the knowledge of which she has just recently become aware of after returning home for her father's funeral. With his death came a huge shake up in his Syndicate leaving Tara on the out. In the end she took her revenge against key 'family' members and then took her leave vowing never to return, but recent news has been giving her second thoughts on the matter.

When given a moment to just sit and rest, her thoughts straight away turn to her father and what he must have thought about his little girl running off, she regrets not speaking with him before his passing. As a law student there are some lines she will not cross, it's her own credo she has developed over the years, but it does play on her mind the twisting of legal and illegal and how one can justify their own actions and still have a peaceful night's sleep.

Recent History: As the last drop of blood fell in her unfinished personal war against the Iakovlev Consortium, she escaped back to Sihon and the Guild House where her life initially took the bizarre twist where the lines of good and bad were blurred. Strangely enough she was accepted in and hidden by the head Priestess until things settled down. After some time to think about her next move the only thing that came to mind was to get back on a ship and be part of a crew again, like the old days on the Zephyr. So she found herself on the Gryphon, a Dragonfly Class Transport with a fine ship and crew, a place one might even come to call home one day. As the fates would have it though, Gryphon fell on some hard times with the loss her captain(Delinda Bowman). In her absence the position fell into Tara's lap thus forcing her to take the reins at a critical juncture. This opportunity has proved to be a true test of her mettle and leadership abilities.

BOWMAN/MARX PERSONNEL REPORT:

After an extensive search I have found these two an unlikely pair. One born on a Border World and a proud Browncoat by choice. The other Core World born and though not outright engaged in the War for Independence, one can only suspect her to be Alliance bound, but this has not yet been substantiated. One raised dirt poor on a farm while the other nurtured in the lap of luxury. It would seem there to be no possible way for these two souls to cross paths but they did.

Marx's seemingly untimely fall from grace in the 'Family Business' forced her to the Border Worlds where a chain of events were set into motion neither one could foresee. Bowman now employed with Caleb West Bounty Hunting found themselves to be working in conjunction with Marx on several 'Alliance' jobs. Tara Marx being their clandestine contact, for some unknown high ranking Core representative, supplied them with the needed particulars and if required assistance.

These assignments proved successful and lucrative for all parties and in the end they parted ways close acquaintances if not friends. So was it any wonder when Delinda Bowman procured her own vessel that Marx was one of the first people she called to join her. Still at the time of this report I find it unwarranted that these two women have gelled so well. Could it be Marx's looking the other way when Bowman wanted to let an old Browncoat slip away? Perhaps, but maybe it's that one thing they have in common that started it all. The one key that is they both lost their Mothers when very young. Sounds too simple right? Yes, that's what I thought.

Respectively submitted,

Terrence McMaster /Senior Intelligence Sub Chief

Last Known News:
After a turn of bad luck on Constance Gryphon and crew were once again flying, albeit a bit wounded. The last intel Interpol had on Captain Marx was Gryphon stopping on Regina then moving quickly onto Beylix. The ship spent a good month planetside undergoing repairs from their misadventures on Constance. Reports after that had Gryphon headed in the direction of the Core Worlds, rumors abounded she was on route for Ariel for reasons unknown. The Federal Marshals dispatched two ships to intercept Gryphon enroute but she was never apprehended and one Fed ship was lost, it's whereabouts uncertain to this day.

Whispers circulated that one of the Federal ships decided to try and collect the Bounty on Marx instead of upholding their sworn duties. Also there are those who suggested she had assistance from one of the Syndicates and or Guilds. The file was eventually closed after eight months and not a peep from Marx and crew.

Skills: Tara is physically attractive and knows how to use that to her advantage if need be, but she is not all beauty, she been blessed with some smarts as well, street and advanced. Tara is better than most with a side arm but not the best shot and also has a basic knowledge of routine demolitions. She uses her feminine wiles and Companion training to get what she wants. Flying lead is a last resort of which seems to happen all too often lately.

Attended College on Londinum and graduated with a Law Degree. Also trained at a Companion Guild House on Sihnon, though not officially licensed she knows her way around the bedroom as well as the boardroom. Has law enforcement training from her days as an agent for the Trade Commission tracking down corruption.

Weaknesses: Though strong for a woman her size she is not great in hand to hand combat and once her cover is blown it's pull the pistol or run. She also has a quite extensive enemies list, a few real winners on there she wouldn't want to run into anytime soon. Tara also can be a bit greedy; enough is never enough and has landed her in trouble more than once. When it comes to spacecrafts she is left trusting those more capable than herself, whether it's flying or fixing. Psychologically she is plagued by the memories of her Father and the unresolved issues that she left dangling in the solar wind.
