Name: Cyril Leland Wade
Age:  29
Gender:  Male

Occupation:  Cowboy
Secondary:  Any job he can talk his way into getting!

Appearance:  Cyril is a pretty boy who’s taken a few rough knocks here and there. He is about average height, though he does sometimes feel like he's on the short side. He's got a strong build that he's maybe let go a little of late: he's got strong arms and back that have been worked hard, but a slightly expanding gut hints at a lack of will-power when it comes to dining. Overall, he looks strong but not exactly light on his feet.

Cyril's blonde hair is a little long with a fringe that falls into his eyes. Those eyes are blue, and very expressive. He has a unique nose that looks like it's been broken several times. His smile is often mischievious, and has managed to win over many a lovely lass in his time.

He dresses just as any self-respecting cowboy should. He’s got a dark brown coat and wears shirts and strong jeans and a dark brown hat. There’s a six-shooter at each hip, and if you catch a glimpse of them you’ll admire their beauty. If you know anything about guns, you’ll know they are high quality stuff.

Avatar Name:Owen Wilson (as Roy O'Bannon in Shanghai Noon)

Equipment:  Cyril always wears a pair of the most beautiful six-shooters most will ever see. They have mother of pearl handles with intricate engravings. He also carries with him some changes of clothes, protein bars, a hunting knife, and some general camping gear. He seems to have no personal items with him.

Initial Personality:  Cyril is very talkative, no matter who he’s talking to. He’s friendly, especially towards women. And some women find him incredibly charming with his roguish, free-spirited outlook on life. Others just think he's full of go-se. But he doesn't waste his time with those 'prissy' types.

Nothing seems to intimidate him and he rolls with the punches. He'd rather talk his way out of trouble than fight. He doesn't seem too smart, and he's easily pegged as one of those ne'er do well types.

He's an easy-going guy. He takes life as it comes and tries to enjoy the ride. But he’s got no direction, and he knows that. It bothers him, but he just chooses not to think about it. Life is for living, not analysing.

Underlying Personality:  Cyril doesn't have many people that know the "real" him. He's made a lot of friends in his travels, and a lot of enemies too. But he probably couldn't name one person he thought really knew him. Plenty probably think they do, but they've only really scratched the surface. It’s not that he doesn’t want to make lasting connections with people, he just feels like no one really gets him, and to be honest no-one has ever really tried. He’ll die alone, he's accepted that, and so that’s the way he lives his life. He looks out for himself because he thinks no one else will.

Known History:  Cyril Leland Wade is the second of four children born to Gene and Helen Wade in a small town called Hester on the planet Three Hills. The Wade family name is as good as royalty to those from Hester. The Wades have been hard-working ranchers going back for generations, and lay claim to being the very first settlers on Three Hills.

Cyril's juvenile record is of course sealed, but those with the hacking skill and inclination could discover that Cyril was in trouble a lot during his High School years for underage drinking, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and one count of auto-theft.

Cyril fought for the Independents during the war when he turned 19 in 2507 until the end in 2511. His regiment was part of some pretty hairy high-profile battles.

There are some modest rewards currently being offered for his arrest in several Rim world towns for non-violent crimes.

Other History:  Cyril’s family were very comfortable ranchers. The Wades were known in their community as hard workers who deserved the good fortune they had accumulated. Cyril’s father was a kind and generous man – with folk that weren’t his son.  Cyril had a good life as child and teen, but he never felt like he belonged. He worked hard, but the ranching gene must have skipped him because he could never live up to his father’s expectations. Cyril's sisters were better ranchers than he was, and his brother was real smart.

Cyril was a weedy kid, and didn't have many friends as a child. When he started High School and started growing up, that changed. The hard work on the ranch gifted Cyril with sculpted muscle, and his feathery hair and pretty eyes meant he was the hottest guy in school (not that that's such a feat, given the small town). Due to the angst Cyril felt regarding his family situation he was broody, rebellious and a trouble-maker. Teachers said he had a bad attitude, kids said he was cool. Perhaps too 'cool' - he still had trouble making friends.

Then, the War for Unification began. Cyril signed up, partly to prove something to his parents and partly out of having nowhere else to go. He managed to get himself injured on his first day. Not willing to waste a man, they put Cyril to work in the offices shuffling paperwork. He was pretty lousy as a secretary, but he was less lousy than he was at everything else so he ended up serving his entire time in the war in that position. He often lets it seem like he saw action but in fact the only action he saw was the reports he read. Some of them were pretty harrowing and still haunt him to this day.

Since the war ended, Cyril has been wandering through life. He's served on many different ships in many different roles. He was aboard Solace for one adventure, hired as the care-giver for a herd of horses. He found himself on Nomad for a little while, but the infamous Captain Mai Han was too terrifying. He wangled a position as "Guest Relations Manager" and "Resident Hero Gunslinger" among other titles aboard Gryphon until it was grounded on Beylix for repairs. (He couldn't stick around to help with the repairs because Beylix is one of the planets upon which a warrant has been issued for his arrest.) Since then he has continued to travel the 'verse in whatever job he can get.

Skills:  Cyril never found the thing that he was really good at. He’s tried a lot of things, had some training here and there in a variety of fields. He’s no expert at anything but knows something about almost everything. By birth he is a cowboy, and grew up on a ranch, so he knows more about that than anything else – but he wasn’t very good at it.

He does have one talent, though not really a marketable skill. He can quick-draw, spin, flick, toss and do all sorts of tricks with his guns. It makes him look like a highly skilled gunhand. It's just a shame his aim is barely passable. On his best day.

When it comes to ships, Cyril talks a very good game. He could sell himself (to a non-skilled person) as a mechanic with natural genius, or a pilot with a God-given gift - or any number of abilities - but once he actually gets in there it will become very quickly apparent that he's all talk and really only has the minimum of skill. In this way he knows a little bit about a lot of things, but his skill is being able to sound like he knows it all.

Weaknesses:  He thinks he can do everything – mechanics, computers, piloting, shooting, brawling, croquet – but he can’t. He really can’t.

Personality-wise, Cyril’s commitment to living life in the moment is a strength, but in a lot of other ways it’s a weakness. He doesn’t save money, he doesn’t consider the consequences of his actions, and he doesn’t make plans for the future.

He’s not a bad guy, but money can convince him to do things he shouldn’t. A pretty girl might too. He’d never intentionally hurt someone, but his lack of forethought means he might not realise the impact his actions might have.
